Mike conceived and founded Crisis Prevention And Training Services, LLC in March, 2010 based on a strong desire to help individuals, churches and para-church ministries create a more safe and secure environment for their families and members.

He says, “My special focus and passion is providing quality training, especially for women.  I provide classes such as:


  • NRA Basic Pistol*
  • NRA Refuse To Be A Victim
  • USCCA** Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, now including "mini courses".

I want to help my students become comfortable and safe with firearms, and find the “right one” when they’re ready to purchase a firearm, especially a

handgun for personal protection or concealed carry.”

To date, Mike has personally conducted Basic Pistol classes for more than 600men

and women from 18 to 74 years old, many of whom have never even held a gun! 

His students consistently give him kudos for his approachability, knowledge, excellent

teaching skills, and the ability to help students feels more at ease with the shooting envi-

ronment. Mike also gives private lessons on request to help students improve their gun

handling skills and “comfort at arms.”  Contact us for class tuition and fees.

Mike is a USCCA Certified Instructor, as well as an NRA-certified instructor in

multiple disciplines, and holds NRA credentials as a Chief Range Safety Officer.  He

is a member of the NRA and its state affiliate, the Colorado Shooting Sports Association.  Mike is trained and licensed as a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) Instructor by the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification.  Mike “walks the walk” and has concealed carry permits from both Colorado and Utah.

Mike is a 1974 graduate of the US Air Force Academy (B.S., Management/Business Administration) and the University of Southern California (M.S., Systems Management, 1978). He is a Distinguished Graduate of the Front Sight Four-Day Defensive Handgun course, a Distinguished Expert in both Pistol and Light Rifle (NRA/Winchester Marksmanship Program), earned his Able Shepherd*** rating in January 2022, and leads the armed Security Team at his church in Castle Rock, Colorado.
